Is a college course (recognized college and course) allowable against income tax for a sole trader if the course is specific to the growth of the business into other areas.

Most college fees are. I have claimed them back over the years. It is tax relief at the standard rate (20%) only though and not the rate you may be on.

just remember if you are on a course that spans over two years (i.e. one college year), then you claim back some percentage against the first year and then the following year you claim the rest. Might need to get two seperate receipts for this.

If a company pays fees for an employee do they not write off the full amount as a business expense?

As a sole trader can you not write off the full amount?
