i have a will made out leaving my estate between my three adult children. i now want to leave on of them out of this will can i add a codical myself how would i go about this or would i need to go to a solicitor

Thanks

I would be inclined to go to a solicitor to ensure it is done correctly as it is a fairly big change.

I think if you write a legible will, containing all of the appropriately worded info (I leave all my assets to 2 of my children etc. etc.) and get it witnessed and signed in the proper fashion, then there's no need for legal stuff like solicitors. Your 3rd child can contest the will, but if your intentions are sufficiently clear in the wording of your will, that should suffice. Make your will simple, one page, clear statements - if more than one page, it gets dodgy.

I'd be inclined to consult a solicitor. The matter is too important to be left to chance.

If you want your 'will' to be followed to the letter, get it done correctly.

It won't cost a fortune.
