We have a pine table that appears to have a clear varnish coating on it. Somebody left a hot sauspan down on it and now there is a white mark where the sauspan was. Any ideas on how to remove the mark & bring the table back to its origional condition?

Thanks

That's pretty tough... sounds like a pre catylsed lacquer. The only way may be to strip it and respray. If it is a cellulose lacquer then you may get away with only stripping (or scraping) the damaged area and respray the lot, the new layer should soften the previous layers and provide a good bond. (I think)

I will ask my (industrial) paint provider for more info when I am buying paint next week but the cloudiness is most likely below the surface and thus can't be corrected unless the surface is stripped to the damaged area.

Cheers
Joe
