Clothes cupboards in bathroom?

Hi,

In my ensuite I have double sinks that have a very short u-bend type thing (its not even a U) and the space below them is completely open. Its done like a marble worktop with the sinks sitting on top and the plumbing below. As the wardrobe space in my bedroom is quite small, there is a massive amount of space below the sinks that I could use if I fitted cupboards or drawers under there as some people have recommended to me.

This would actually be really useful if I could use the storage space for clothing but I thought that steam might just make the clothes damp? There is a shower in there that is completely enclosed so should contain the steam very well (I haven't moved in yet so it hasn't been tested).

Is this sort of thing a possibility? Should I be looking at cupboard/drawer units that have seals along the openings to make sure the contents are protected? Is there a particular type of unit I should be considering?
