Every 3-4 weeks we get a leaflet through the door with a bag, looking for old clothes etc. for various charities I have never heard of.
The first was a Lithuanian based charity who boasted to be helping every one from "prostitutes in Afghanistan" (!!) to "water projects in Congo".
The latest one is a cancer charity called "Do Not Delay".
These leaflets give no contact number, no registered charity number etc, so I am assuming that they are a scam. I saw a UK program some months ago which highlighted a scam where clothes were being collected and sold in Eastern Europe.
Is this the same type of scam? Is is illegal? Should the Gardai be made aware ?
