I'm about to travel to Argeles in France (Languedoc Rousillon) to find a 3 or 4 bed house which I will rent to holidaymakers for June/July/August every year. Luckily I have a good friend who lives nearby to do the management. However, I am slightly worried that (a) Holidaymakers from the UK will stay away due to the weak value of Sterling, and (b) the era
of cheap travel is coming to an end due to high oil prices.

My main reason for investing is to get rental income - I'm not concerned about capital appreciation. However, I have heard that house prices in the South of France are starting to fall. Maybe I should wait a bit ???

Any advices from you property experts !!! ???

I spent time looking at such investment in south of France and for the same reasons. The management and maintenance costs could practically eat all the rental income, even with a super friend.

If your main reason for buying is investment, then france is not the place to buy, because a. the season is not long enough for rental income (only 3 -4 months_ and property isnt appreciating. For pure investment, Europe isnt really a good idea anywhere at the moment, but if you must best to look at a capital city investment in a prime area that is sure to get rented most of the year by locals because of its location
