I am having a late change of heart on radiators vs underfloor I have the sub floor in with 4 inches of insulation in it. I have talked to measured the height of the sub floor to the doors and I could put 12mm insulation in and clip the pipes to that.
1 Has anyone already done this?
2 I heard that the clipping machine that the plumbers use may not work,
Why don't you get a plumber to do it?
You can buy tracks which you lay out and clip to insulation with pins, then the pipe fits neatly into track. Don't lay any pipe under where the stairs will go as fitters are sure to go through pipes. don't put any pipes under where bath is going to avoid condensation and don't put them under where toilet is. Basically think of anywhere people will screw into floor and avoid with pipe work.
I for one, would put in rads rather than UFH.
Good Luck.
Thanks for that DavyJones I will be getting a plumber to do it and your advice on the stairs is appreciated.
I am just looking at options which may allow me alternatives in the future.
Do you know if that track is expensive?
It comes in plastic strips, not sure of price. we usually buy alot of it with other materials. Can't imagine it to be too dear. will try and dig out an invoice.
