cleaning unpolished marble fireplace

Does anyone know how to clean an unpolished marble fireplace? We have an open fire so it does get dirty. I was told before not to use anything except fairy liquid and a nail brush but its very grubby and this isnt cleaning it properly

There is some good technical information on this site regarding natural stone cleaning and maintenance. We use their products for polished marble floor and find them the best. I have no affiliation with the company.

Yes they are available all over Ireland from most good tile stores. Our local tile supplier here in Galway did not have the product we required in stock but ordered it in for us ....only took a few days for delivery. The product is not cheap but well worth the price paid. Also I would try and get any advice needed regarding the cleaning product from Lithofin themselves as they have all the technical info. I find that sometimes staff in tile stores are not up to speed on all the various products they stock.
