Cleaning pebble dashed walls

Hi. My parents built an extension to their house 10 years ago and replaced the render finish with whiter pebble dash. It was beautifully white for the first few years and looked great. In the last 5 years or so it has become grey and damp looking and really takes away from the house. (Probably from rain as it faces South-West) I am getting married next summer and I think this is the reason they want so much to rectifiy the problem as friends and family will be callin! Is there a spray or other out there to clean pebble dash? Would really appreciate any help or advice given. Thanks.

Power wash the walls to remove the dirt and grime. You could whitewash the pebble in the traditional manner.

You could also try planting some fast growing ivy - the reddish colour is nice - to break up some of the monotony of the pebble dash.

Thanks for the replies. Mam tried the ivy but seems slow but I will suggest a fast growing one.
I'm worried that power washing would remove the pebble dash. I tried it on my own house and it removed stone and some plaster :-/

Thanks for these anyway.

Ivy will lead to its own issues down the line.

Not if it's properly controlled. There are many other creeper plants and flowers that will also grow up pebble dash walls - check with your local garden centre.

I will consult the boss herself re your replies and inform her of her options. Thanks again.

Or just have it painted/freshened up - I'm sure a local painter will give you a good price since it's only an extension/day's work??

I'll do that. The front and 2 sides of the house are dashed now but thanks, I'll ask local paint shop for advice on cleaning and painting. Thanks

I think you could get it powerwashed... few pebbles will come off but not the full pebble dash.. probably needs a coat of paint also seeing that its 5yrs
