Cleaning of a marble fireplace

Can anyone help me please? I have a very old marble fireplace which needs cleaning to the exterior as it has been subject to general wear and tear and s few cigarette burns over the years. Does anyone have any DIY tips and/or know of any specialist companies which deal with this? Many thanks.
 
Had the same problem myself - used a small steam cleaner and a sponge scourer and it came up looking like brand new...
