Cleaning laminate without smearing

We have laminate flooring in our main living room and bedrooms and are finding it a nightmare to clean. Normally it gets a quick hoover and then a clean with a mop (squeezed out) and some hot water + cleaning solution. However after drying out the floor is covered in watermarks and smears- this is especially obvious in the living room where lights streams in through the bay window.
Has anyone any tips on what cleaning solution and what cleaning procedure to use for laminate floors to leave a smear free floor?

If you've got streaks chances are you've got hard water (lime). Dry off the area with a microfibre cloth and you should notice a difference.

Carpenter, I don't think its lime since we use water out of the same tap for making tea and the kettle is lime free!! Thought it might be something to do with my cleaning technique. Never heard of a microfibre cloth- any particular brand and where can they be got?

Heitons have them (bright orange in colour, about €2) and Lidl do them also (green in colour); there especially designed for cleaning glass, paintwork, shiny surfaces etc. Work great on your car's paintwork too.
