Cleaner for upholstery and carpets.

I'm looking for a recommendation for a cleaning gadget for both the suite and carpets. I'm not sure if a steam cleaner is the appropriate machine or should I be looking for something else?

Has anyone bought and used one? on special offer at the moment or should I be looking at something like the .

I own a gadget similar to the first one you mention. Is grand for spot cleaning but not really suitable to do a whole room. The second item may do the job but VAX have higher spec models which may be better.
