Hi everyone,
Does anyone have a suggestion on the best way to clean semi-solid wood floors. I've been told that you shouldn't use water, which to me would've been the easiest way using a mop. I have floor wipes speciafically for wooden floors but getting down on hands and knees to clean 40 sq foot is a bit much!

I use a polti steam cleaner on my solid wood floor. I have Pitch Pine to sittingroom and Red Deal to bedrooms. Its brilliant and no chemicals. I also use it on my tiled areas.

DeeDee,

I use Pledge Soapy Wood Cleaner (available in all supermarkets) on my solid and semi-solid floors. Add it to lukewarm water and use mop. Never had a problem. Smells really nice too

like NHG we use our Polti (910) too
but its a universal steam/vacuum cleaner
and its main use is on carpets (far better than merely vacuuming)
but also for bathroom tiles etc
you wouldnt buy our model just to do hard wood floors
its all a question of what YOU want to do/it to do
(we bought another polti, second hand, for our holiday home)
for us its a great machine and cleans everything better
- although its also more a question of the floor type and cleaning product for your floor (as a polti itself only delivers a steam flow and suction, over a wide area, over an extended period)
ie there are several issues
first one of which is not so much the equipment as it is about you !
