Claming for relief on work tools

Hi,
Does anyone know if tax relief can be claimed for carpenters tools. I buy all my own tools to do the job and my employer does not refund any of the cost. I keep receipts and would be able to produce them if needed. I have spent over 6,000 euros in the last 2 years.
Thank you

Twinklyb,

Are you a PAYE employee or self employed?

If the latter then you should be able to claim capital allowances on your tools ie. 20% p.a. for 5 years from year of purchase

And if you're a union member, then your union should be able to sort it out for you.
