Hi

I am looking to claim employee expenses as a Engineer for the last 4 years. I have it sorted for this year and my TAX credits where increased. Can I claim it back for the last four years ?

Yes you can. If you call PAYE enquiries at 1890 333425 (Dublin PAYE) they will sort it out for you. Just tell them you're an engineer and want to claim your Sch E expense credit for the past 4 years. They should be able to sort it out for you over the phone.

Good Luck

I've tried sort out a similar expense for some of our employees and the Revenue will request you apply in writing and enclose your most recent P60.

Not sure about that. In my case they only looked for the most recent P60 even though I am going back 4 years.

As far as I know, the allowances officially extend to Engineers working in the for Civil Service, Local Authorities, Coillte etc. Are you working for the public / semi private sector?

There is a list of who can claim and how much and what profession you need to be in to claim that amount. Its well hidden on the revenue web site. The link was posted on this site a while back.Anyone have this handy ?

Imperator, I've claimed the expense for some of my employees who are engineer but we're not civil service, local authority etc.

So 138 x4(years) =552 x 20%=110.4 .This is what I can claim. Will the 4 years include this year as I have claimed the credits for 2005 or am I ok to claim 04-03-02-01 ?

Nice to see those who need it most, doctors and consultants are among those with the highest expenses!

No need for the x 20% as the figure of €138 is an actual credit i.e. it's worth €138

20% is the ammount that I will receive in the form of a cheque for the last four years .Current year will only be the credit .
