dont know if this is the correct thread.

My other half has finished up work and is at present looking for another job. She is also claiming social welfare, while doing this.she had been working in the same job for the past 4/5 years

She has the opportunity to mind some children for two neighbours for about 4 months until after the new year.

she wants to look into what she needs to do with regards claiming social welfare and also with regards minding the children, insurance etc.

would anyone have done similar or who could lend advise.
This is something that may become longterm.

many thanks for that, do I talk to SW first do you think ?
would I be considered self employed ?

Yes, you would be considered self-employed - and you will need to complete the annual return Form 11E. Looks like there is still RSI to pay (even if you are tax exempt), but its minimal. I got this from the same website CLICK HERE

Yes your OH would need to inform SW that s/he is taking up self-employment.
