Hello,
For this financial year, my gross pay will be in the region of €6235. This is as I've only begun to work recently and was in college prior to this.
This means I will not pay any tax this year.
My question is, as I am entitled to rent relief and 3rd level fee relief (postgrad course) in this financial year - if I claim them can I roll them forward to next year (doubtful). Alternatively can I await until next year to claim the reliefs, in respect of that particular tax year?
Ie. If I try to claim rent relief next year for this tax year, will the relief be granted on earnings in 2006? And therefore I won't gain.
Also as I borrowed to pay for my postgraduate course, academic year 2005/2006, and will be paying back the loan for some time to come - am I only entitled to claim my relief for it in the tax years 2005 and 2006? Again I would not benefit from it if this is the case.
Any enlightenment would be great - I can't determine where I lie from viewing the usual oasis and citizens rights website.
