Wondering if anybody can advise please.
I recently lost my job and have been looking for a new job with no luck
I have applied for JSB but have just been offered consultancy work- equal to about 5-7 days work per month. I will have to invoice the company and set myself up as self employed.
Will I be able to do this and retain some of the Job Seekers Benefit?
Thanks
You should look into the Back to Work Enterprise Allowance - Short Term, this allows you to keep your benefit for 12 months and keep any money you manage to make up from the business. I'm not sure if 5-7 days per month would be enough for your plan to be approved, but it may be, especially if you have a plan to look for other similar work and make a full-time business out of it. Check it out here http://www.citizensinformation.ie/e...and_work/short_term_enterprise_allowance.html
If you don't get approved for BTWEA, then you can still keep your Jobseekers Benefit for the days that you remain unemployed, provided that you keep yourself looking and available for full-time work.
