Hi,

Just a question that popped up today with a friend who's working and has dyslexia. Can they claim for the cost of the laptop that she purchased last year as she had to purchase this based on her learning difficulties. Is this possilbe as I checked REvenue and its bit unclear. She has been official diagnosed when in school and has the report to back this up. Where does she stand with this or not at all?

If you look here You'll see that cost of a computer is allowable but only where :-

"Cost of a computer where it is necessary to alleviate communication problems of a severely handicapped person "

I'm not aware of any other Revenue provisions though that permit tax refunds on such items.
