Claiming for dependent adult & child

Hi,
My spouse has recently been made redundant and has started to receive benefit. I am self employed but not receiving any income at all from the business for the past year roughly. I thought my husband could claim for me and our child as dependents (as we were all living soley off his income). However, the social welfare office want audited accounts from my business. The 2008 accounts are being done as we speak but it was only November last year that things got bad for the business so the 2008 accounts won't show a true reflection of how bad things are at the moment. I know this is probably a common issue for s/e people but is there anyway around it to prove to the sw office that the business is not generating an income?
