Claiming Disability Benefit while studying?

I was involved in an accident back in May which resulted in me getting 3 fractures in my skull. Needless to say I have not been fit for work and the doctors reckon I won't be fully fit until Spring next year at least. They are however happy for me to go back to college. Will this affect my disability payments if I do go back as a student.

If you are getting an unemployment, one-parent family or disability payment the Back to Education Allowance (BTEA) allows you to study at second and third level without losing your benefits. You must meet certain criteria to be eligible for the BTEA. If you are studying part-time you may be able to keep your benefits under the Back to Education Programme.

There may be other (SW, tax, etc.) benefits to which you are entitled in this case so do check with the relevant authorities and maybe with Citizens Info etc.
