Hi,
I will be made redundant in August of this year and will receive an ex-gratia lump sum redundancy payment which is just below the taxable threshold for my length of service + the tax free increased exemption on lump sum redundancy payments . That is, I will (just about!) not pay any tax on my ex-gratia redundancy payment.
My redundancy date is August 2009, I intend to go travelling abroad for the remainder of 2009. Will I be eligble to reclaim some or all the PAYE tax I have paid on my salary from January 2009 - August 2009 at the end of 2009 as I won't have worked from August until the end of the year?
Thanks!
