Civil service Grade IV - interview waiting time (was Public Sector Jobs)

Hello everyone,

When you submit an application for public sector jobs, how long until they start interviewing for the post? I've heard this can vary from 2-6 weeks.

Hi Ciara,

When you say public sector jobs do you mean:

A) Civil Service
B) Public Service (excluding the CS) (Guards, Nurses, Teachers, Local Authority, HSE and many non commercial state agencies such as Fas)
C) Public Sector (excluding the PServ and CS) Commercial Semistate organisations (ESB, Bord Gas etc)

I applied for one in Westmeath in the local authorityin July. I phone their HR dept every month or so and get the runaround that the manager hasn't issued instructions to put an interview panel together yet, profuse apologies etc, and this is for a Grade VII position, so don't hold your breath!

Correct me if Im wrong but there is no civil service grade 4 post..do you mean Executive Officer?

Cork County Council were receiving applications for various grades, closing date was roughly April/May. They still haven't interviewed for Grade IV positions.
