Citywest Living: worried about how desolate it looks

Hi there,

I'm considering buying a place in Citywest but am worried about how desolate it
looks. There is a shopping center on the way and the luas but is there an overall plan
as to how it WILL look in a few years time? Or is it all being done in a haphazard way?

Am also worried that they'll continue to build lots of houses and it just becomes one large
estate.

Thanks for your opinions....

cheers :)

Re: Citywest Living

Which area in paticular are you interested in?
Well every plan has to go through a process of application, which is strict and will face any objection. So I doubt a developer isn't just gona decide to just throw up any type of building they want so in that sense there is a plan....though when I think about it wasn't there a bit of trouble with the conference centre in Citywest? They didn't have appropriate permission?

I personnaly think Citywest is a great choice and great investment. The N7 is a great commuter link, the N81 is due for upgrade/widening. As you mentioned there is a new shopping centre due 2007 and luas for 2008.
Citywest still has alot of open space to develop and no doubt it will be taken advantage of and IMO which can only be good for the value of your property.

Re: Citywest Living

thanks for your reply.

carrig court is a new place that went on sale today which i put a deposit on.

pretty sure CityWest Hotel kept their conference centre but with restrictions on not having
concerts and both halls not being used at once....for reasons of traffic etc..

Re: Citywest Living

Carrig Court is a one minute drive or 10 minute stroll from Saggart Village, which has shops, pubs, churches etc. Its right on the N7. Citywest Hotel is right next door. The Square/LUAS/Hospital/College/Library/Tallaght Town Centre are all less than a ten minute drive... Hardly desolate.

I put a deposit on one myself, but the Jan/Feb 07 finishing date and 325k price tag is making me waver a bit.

Details of the proposed Luas extension can be found [broken link removed] (note: PDF file).

citywest and surrounding areas are going to be so modern and updated once all the building is finished. i have just bought in saggart, just down the road from citywest hotel. i have friends living in carrigmore and adjoining estates, belfry, vershcoyle, etc and the plans for the area is all good news. major shopping centre, new pubs, restaurants, etc. i'm in a new development called slade castle and they will have a new pub, shops and restaurants in it as well. with transport updated and improved with the luas by 2008 its a perfect time to buy.......
i can see these areas being modern and well kept.
