Cinque Terre in Italy

Has anyone been in Cinque Terre (Italy), looking for somewhere to stay at the seaside, near the sandybeach, with lots of activities for 2 teenagers, which one is best for summer (around august), camping, package holidays or staying in hotels or farmhouses?

A word of warning, there are very few - if any - sandy beaches in Cinque terra. Its beaches are pebbled and small. But it is a very beautiful with lots of great seafood. I travelled around the area a number of years ago with friends but we stayed in pretty basic pension accomodation, probably not what you are looking for. Driving around the region is a bit hairy! but worth it for spectacular views.
