Want to get a really good turkey for Christmas, anyone have any suggestions? Are organic ones really any tastier?

Re: Christmas Turkey

Don't know about "Organic" but Free Range ones do taste much nicer. Great Farm Shop in Termonfeckin, Co Louth (5 miles north of Drogheda). Well worth the extra few bob for Christmas. What location are you in?

Re: Christmas Turkey

Yeah agree. The shop is called McEvoy's.
They also have a butcher's shop in the Wheaton Hall estate on the southside of Drogheda.

Re: Christmas Turkey

Since I read about them a few years ago, I've been getting a free range Bronze turkey from a butchers, Lawlors, on Upper Rathmines Road, Dublin. Flavour is definitely the best. They're not produced in large numbers like the usual white ones but are probably sold elsewhere if you enquire. I order in advance and have never been disappointed. They are more expensive but definitely worth it compared to the usual tasteless varieties. You can read about them here or Google Bronze turkeys:

Re: Christmas Turkey

You can order organic turkeys here http://www.irishfood.ie/ you may need to phone in the order as I think the online service is for lamb only and you will need to collect.

I can vouch for the turkey, really really nice and NO comparisson to the muck in the shops

No connections just a happy customer and lovely people to deal with.
