Christams in Spain or Portugal

Has anyone spent xmas in Spain or Portugal.
I assume it will be quiet and cool.
But are the restuarnts open in the tourist areas (algarve etc)?

Any comments or advice is welcome

spent Xmas in Alicante 2 years ago it was quiet warm on Xmas day everyplace was open especially chinese restaurants- it did not seem like Xmas but that was what we wanted that year just to get away from it all
