Chorus digital

We recently got our chorus connection upgraded from cable to digital and when it was being installed we were told not to plug out the box as we would have to ring up chorus to get a new code to connect again (similar for a power cut, I presume). The plug is getting very warm though and I'm concerned about it being a fire hazard.

Has anyone else plugged it out and managed okay?

I have one (a digital box from chorus) and plug it out every night, and i have never had to enter a code.
mine is the 'silver' box, is about 2 years old and looks like this....

Tried plugging it out this morning and it was fine when I plugged it in! Maybe the Chorus guy was in a funny humour??

Strange. Usually those Chorus guys never speak a word that isn't the Gospel Truth.
