Choosing a Decent Processor

I am looking to buy a new desktop pc for use at home. I don't need a really good computer for games etc. Just one I could use for music and photos, Internet use and Word etc.

I am being bombarded with different types of processors e.g. AMD 64 and Intel Dual Core. Can anybody give me an idea what I should be looking for e.g. a good speed and which type is better.

Dual core seems to be the way to go these days, unless it's a basement budget machine

For that type of use anyone of the dual cores are plenty sufficient , just steer clear of the Intel celeron and the AMD sempron as they're pointless with vista
