Hi, I am looking to have two unused chimneys plugged, Has anyone used these, I am looking for one that allows ventilation, If anyone has seen the one on the dragons den and had one fitted I would appreciate some feedback, On one hand I need to block them off because of heat loss but on the other would worryf about lack of ventilation if I use the wrong type, Thanks in advance, Regards Cumnor.

I'm fairly sure that without ventilation you will have problems with condensation on the chimney breast.

There are two types that'll meet your needs. Chimney caps that will block downdrafts, but allow sufficient ventilation to the chimney to prevent condensation issues. You will not be able to use the fireplace with these in place. These are relatively inexpensive, €20-30.

Altenatively, you can get closures that can be opened/closed via a chain that hangs down the chimney if you want to continue to have the option of using the fireplace. These are obviously more expensive, ~€150 + installation.

If you're looking for suppliers, you need to post in Recommend tradesmen and suppliers.
