We are building a new house. Our fireplace supplier recommended we get the builder to put in 12" flues in our chimneys. He said it is easy to size down a fireplace but impossible to size up afterwards. Our builder thinks 12" is way too much. He said 9" would be sufficient for almost any house. What do you think?
