Child benefit ~ what happens if you leave Ireland

If you are in receipt of child benefit for your child born in Ireland and you emigrate, do you continue to claim child benefit in Ireland?

My friend is looking to move back to the UK, he and his wife are both British, they've lived here almost 20 years. Their three children were all born here. Do they get child benefit from Ireland or submit a child benefit claim in the UK?
