child benefit change and jobseekers pay

Hi ,
I ve tried to find the answer to this one but am a little bamboozled.
After the recent budget I understood that the child benefit would be decreased by €16 per child per month and that persons on a lower income would be 'compensated' for this loss through their social welfare payment.
can anyone clarify this and does it apply to persons on a fas or vtos course, I receive €196 for me, €130.10 for wife and €29.80 each for 2 sprogs.., my January child benefit was €300.00 (which I expected) but my other payments haven't increased. (Not sure if they were supposed to or not but don't want to ask college personnel until I know for sure)
Thanks in advance .com

The weekly payment for children on their parent's SW payments went up from €26pw to €29.80pw, an increase of €3.80 which equates roughly to €16 per month which was taken from the Child Benefit.

The reason you wouldn't have noticed the increase is due to the fact that although the payment for your children increased by €7.60, your personal rate was reduced by €8.30 and the rate for your wife was reduced by €5.50

Has the CB payment been processed yet for those receiving JA? I have lost a total of €48 per month on CB as I have twins (50% uplift on regular CB rate). I don't think this reduction has been made up in my JA yet in January.

Would DSFA IT systems for JA pick up on the need to reflect enhanced "multiples" rate for CB?

Cheers.

Sorry to bump this post but have worked it out and I am short €3.80 p/w which is the 50% uplift on the weekly payment for twins. I need to sign on next week at DSFA offices so can ask them for clarification on why this has happened. Thanks.

I'm not aware of any provision to make up for the reduction of the multiple birth CB payment.

Persons on some reduced rate SW payments who receive half-rate qualified child allowance lost out too - their Qualified child rate increased from €13 to €14.90 pw which is less than they lost on CB.

Hi,
Thank you gipimann for the prompt reply. Just double checked my payments into bank over past couple of weeks and everything works out.
Once again thank you

Is that just an administrative oversight from DSFA which will be sorted? It's bad enough for me with twins but if someone was on JA/JB with triplets they would lose out on the 100% uplift on their CB. If it's a deliberate ploy to reduce CB for the most economically disadvantaged parents of multiples then that's bad form.

My guess is that it wasn't thought of when the cuts were being discussed rather than something more deliberate and sinister.

Might be an idea to write to the Minister's office to point out the anomaly and see what happens.
