Chiang Mai & Islands In October

Hi,

I have been reading some of peoples good reccomendations on travel in Thailand and I am wondering if anyone has reccommendations for hotels in Chiang Mai?

Also I am planning to travel to the islands. I was looking at going to Ko Samui however it looks like for my dates (end Oct) it will be rainy season. Has anyone any opinions on this or any reccomendations as to what to do - what are phi phi or ko chang like for weather during the end of October. Also anyone have any reccomendations for high end beach huts on any of these islands.

I don't know about the areas you have in mind but I was in Bangkok and Pattaya in October 2003 and there was a fair amount of rain; it really pours. Sun never comes out in Bangkok anyway - too much smog. But it does not rain all the time and the sun did come out in Pattaya from time to time. If possible, I would reccommend going in November when the rainy season is virtually finished
