Hi people

I live in spain and will be going back to ireland(belfast) very soon.
The cheque is for 1000 euros and is made to my name -its not crossed.
Its from an online bookies and issued from the ulster bank, colledge green,Dublin.

From what i gather in the forums i would have to go to the issuing bank to cash it. is this true?also is it better to buy sterling in the south or north?

I dont have an account in the north and the bank here say they dont know how long to clear-2-4 weeks. i leave in 1

Thanks

Have you considered ringing Ulster Bank and asking them whether you can cash a Euro cheque issued by Ulster Bank in the south of Ireland in a branch of Ulster Bank in the North of Ireland? I suspect not but it is worth asking them.

Just a thought but if the cheque is from one of the leading Irish bookmakers (Paddy Power , Boylesports etc.) could you cash it at one of their branches?
