Cheapest way to Phone Home while on Hols

ANy ideas on the cheapest way to phone home while on holidays in Europe? Callcards, telestunt or equivalent....

Would be handy to have some information on this - currently, when travelling in France, I ring Ireland and get them to ring me back at the phonebox using Telestunt from Ireland!

A colleague of mine was in Lanzarote recently on a junket sorry "business trip" and we kept in touch daily by text messages and multimedia msgs ( both normal home prices)
as well as e-mails . Phoning only invites idle chat which can wait till you get home.
