Hi all,

Hope you're safe.

What's the best shipping co. to deliver from/to Ireland.

It would be small bags which weight never will be more than 1-1.5 kg. The content would be herbal medicine formula so we're not talking about anything fragile and I'd be looking for a delivery of 2-3 days after the order.

Thanks

I'd suggest have a look at what courier similar businesses are using. You'll need to talk to courier companies, and agree a volume based price. The price of sending a single package will be very different to a situation where you've access to the courier's system and printing their barcoded labels yourself and sending 50+ items per week.

The other country involved here might be important too.

Depending on the exact nature of the product, you may have some additional red tape as anything in the medicines field requires licensing to import/ export.

D'oh. I misread that it as shipping within Ireland, but I did wonder about shipping 1kg of medicine products to individual customers.

Now I read it again I'm not sure either. I'd usually interpret the / to mean 'or', but perhaps in this case it was intended as 'and', as in from and to Ireland, in which case your assumption is correct. :D

I've been seeing a lot of people using DPD in Ireland (been getting a few deliveries of late)

Nightline and actually An Post are the best of the bunch. Nightline have suffered a little from the UPS buyout but by far remain the best of them

DPD have crumbled over the pandemic period, just have a look at their twitter feed

As said above you need for forecast the monthly volume and shop around, not sure about An Post but the others will move on their headline price if the volume is there

GLS was great to send 5kg weight of books recently. They collected at my house on Tuesday and Thursday morning delivery to other side of country. 11 euro total.

It's down to volume.

I pay 3.75 for 10kg signed next day delivery with an post. But we are sending 2,000-3,000 per month

If they are a specific size and are under 2kg, and sending 50+ per week, you could get decent rates from an post.

But it's primarily down to volume of packages.

Dpd, are excellent, but would be pricier.

Fastway - better than they used to be. Would be seen as an economy service. If you don't need next day delivery, they may be cheaper

Fastway is a franchise service so some are excellent and some are rubbish. Personally I won't use them for anything urgent.

For that reason, along with some previous bad experiences when I used them in the past, I wouldn't use them ever again.

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link, so how good is a courier service with just one unreliable franchisee, neve mind several ?

What's the potential impact on Kalada's business if goods are delayed, damaged or go missing, while in transit ?

Just wondering about one-off bulk delivery.

I'd like to buy a pallet of stuff (in rural Galway) and get it deliver to Dublin - perhaps about a tonne in weight?

What would total delivery costs be and who does this sort of thing?

Hi, you should get it for 100 plus vat. That'd be pickup and 'kerbside' delivery anywhere in Ireland, next day. You might get cheaper if you call around, or don't need next day. I've gotten deliveries for 70 per pallet.
Lots of the courier / freight companies provide this service. The likes of Nightline, Hales, etc. There are also networks, like Pallet Xpress that link couriers together to provide the service.

The Pallet Network is probably the best place to look - a group of independent carriers that link up.
[broken link removed]

They specialise in pallets.

Less than €100 I reckon inc vat.
