Charity shops taking electronic items?

I recently upgraded a number of items in my office and home and thought it would be a nice idea to give away some of the old stuff to a charity shop, as it's still in perfect working order. Among the items I have are: -

  • a VCR (brand new - long story)
  • a cordless telephone with speakerphone
  • a HP deskjet colour printer
  • a digital answering machine
I called into Barnardos and Oxfam in Rathmines but neither could take the items off me. They can't take in electrical items because they have no way of checking that they are safe for use before selling them back out.

I subscribe to the www.freecycle.org lists and I know I'll get people there to take them off me, but I'd prefer them to go to a charity. I'd rather not sell them on eBay for time reasons.

Anyone know of a charity looking for stuff like this in Meath or Dublin?

Have you tried any local schools, as they are all usually desperate for kit.
Im sure they would be glad to get that stuff.
