Changing to PAYE

I work for a UK company in Ireland and for the last 6 yrs they pay my gross salary less PRSI. I then make a tax return each year. They make PRSI contributions annually.

I had a meeting with HR last week to tell me that because of legislation changes in 2006, I should have been on a PAYE system. This will be happening in July.

We have a division of teh company in Waterford that will be paying my salary on the UK's behalf so I will get payslips from them.

However, the revenue has said they will want to claim interest back from my company as they should have been getting monthly tax payments in 2006/2007 & up to now in 2008 instead of me filing a return in the Oct.

Nobody was aware of this legislation change and was wondering if anyone knew where I could find a link to it?

Also, any ideas what I need to do personally with the tax office to be prepared for the changeover in July? Do I now need to apply for a tax cert?

Hi,

There is a Revenue Statement of Practice that can be found at:

As to what you should do - yes you should apply for a tac credit certificate - either ring up your local office, or send in a Form 12A
