Changing Plugs / Light Switches

Hi,

My house has pretty old and worn looking light switches and plugs. Having totally renovated the house I was thinking of replacing them - is this a job for an electrician or is this a simple job which i could do it myself?

Do i just need to buy replacement covers, switch off the mains and begin to replace them?

If they are fairly old the chances are that the wiring is the same so I would definitely get a sparky to check it out.

I think the sockets etc are a different size and would need to be screwed into new points
