What are the steps to complete change of name on house deeds from joint to sole without solicitors.
Background - split from ex over 10 years ago. Unmarried. Bank agreed to continue with me on existing mortgage by myself ( ex would remain on mortgage - just wouldn’t be contributing to mortgage or the protection insurances). Ex has agreed to come off deeds. Will remain on existing tracker mortgage. This will allow me in event of my death, to ensure any monies from a sale of house would go to our child. Have been quoted 3k by solicitor for deeds portion.
Colleague did similar process themselves. Simply went up to land registry and asked what forms needed to be filled out etc. They advised him to use solicitor but as his ex was in agreement, he submitted the forms at a cost of 130 euro and deed was changed. He did have some interaction with revenue but not sure what that consisted of.
