I currently drive a 1.4 Ford Focus zetec 3 door. I find it zippy enough for me! I drive almost 200km per day (5 days) so I think its time to change to a diesel.
Question is, going by previous threads I think I should be going for the Ford Focus 1.6 or 1.8. Is this a total no-brainer or should I be looking at other car manufacturers also?

Why not try the Focus VVT - runs on bio-ethanol and/or petrol. You get 50% of the VRT back from a new car.

Nope. VVT is a 1.6 variable valve timing petrol engine, available only on Focus Ghia (4 & 5 door)
and Titanium (3 door) in the Irish market. 115bhp.

The FFV is a 1.8 125bhp engine which can run on E85 or petrol. That car (available in Focus 5 door and estate in LX trim, and C-Max in activ trim) gets the 50% VRT rebate.
