just bought house and am looking to remove the parquet florring (think that is what it is called) in the downstairs. There are floorboards underneath. Does anyboy know what tyoe of cost you would be talking about, or best way of doing this.
Also in the house there is a blocked up fireplace in dining room. Looking at opening this and wondered whether it was possible to use the same flue to put in a new fireplace in this room and a stove in the kitchen( same wall ) and again ball park cost

Just saw in another post. Laminates I think they are called

If it is laminate flooring (generally around 6 foot lengths and 6+ inches wide) then it's a straightforward job of ripping these up. There may be some beading attached to the skirting boards over this. Just remove them and start from one side, lifting the boards as you go.

The floor boards may be in a very bad condition and beyond salvaging. Problem is you won't know until all the laminate is up.

Parquet is smaller blocks of wood bonded to the subfloor, and is a bit of a nightmare to lift.

You'll need to get the chimney inspected to determine its condition. Where you intend to purchase the stove may be able to recommend someone.
