Interesting changes happening in Cuba:

http://www.rte.ie/business/2010/0914/cuba.html

I particularly found the last two paragraphs of interest, as they confirm my view that socialism is nothing more than mass begrudgery:

"This is not the first time Cuba's leadership has encouraged self-employment. After the crash of the former Soviet bloc, jobs such as beauticians, small restaurant owners and even lighter refillers were legalised as long as workers obtained licenses and paid taxes.

But social resentment spread when some workers, particularly in private restaurants, achieved dramatic levels of success. The government began increasing taxes and regulation, as well as decreasing the number of licenses, until the self-employed sector essentially collapsed."

Didn't Castro come out recently and say that the policies were no longer working for Cuba. (Not that they ever did). Hopefully the US will adopt their ridiculous foreign policy with regard to Cuba if they are serious about reforming.

It said more than 500,000 public sector jobs will be eliminated, in a first major cut, by March 2011.

I'll we have the IMF here doing the same.

How long before our freedom loving people of the Left start saying that the above is all U.S. propaganda or have the wheels finally come off the Socialist revolution ?

Repressive regime. Socialism and communism have always failed economically and socially.

Cubans are far from happy, unless one works in the service industry.
