change to granted planning permission question

Hi again, (i may become a regular dumb question asker - genuinely thankful for knowledgable answers though).
a few years ago we applied and received for planning for a 2 story conversion of single story garage. Now cash flow is not as good as it is was and we are thinking of just doing a single story garage conversion. in effect half build was was originally granted....
Can we do this under the existing planning or do we need to go draw up new plans and get new permission?

probably not. but submit a set of the existing particulars and the proposed to the planners outlining your amendments, they will tell you whether a formal application is required. imo discuss with an architect/arch technician first as building regulations and minimum space requirements may be an issue..
