Chalet - Planning Permission required?

Hi,
We were thing of getting a Chalet, 5m x 5m. This would be detached from the house and be used as a Workshop/storage/garden stuff.

Would I require planning permission for this

Yes, you would require Planning.

A garage is exempt under certain circumstances though.

sounds like this could be a garage/shed? the reason for
the size of your shed (5mx5m) is that this is the limit for an
exemption under the planning guidlines for a shed/garage
(25m2 floor area) if you've any question ring up your local
authority and ask to be put through to a planner, they'll
put you straight.
