I have bought and sold a lot of US shares and US ETF's in 2016 but with only small capital I have a loss of 200 euro in share print and 150 euro in transactions costs.
Degiro has created this for me:
total gains. : 500.00
total loss of shared longer then 4 weeks: 0.00
total loss of shares shorter then 4 week: 700.00
transaction costs : 150.00
Dividend earned :1.69
Few questions:
1:
I understand the CGT is self assessment, do I have to make a declaration if I do not own revenue anything. i.e. the gain was nothing and the loss was 200 euro on stock
I would not like the fill out the CGT payment slip to revenue with nothing on it.
2:
can i deduct the transaction cost of 150 euro against my losses.
3:
I am a PAYE worker on the higher rate of tax.
I believe that dividend's is treated as income, rather then CGT so I would declare this and pay 40% on it
4:
I am married so next year I would like to make a profit from buying and selling ETF's and from ETF's dividend. from what I understand we will have a relief of €1,270 per person. before tax is paid. but that tax will be 40%
I have been reading a lot about the ETF situation in Ireland and tax.
5:
Is there an excel sheet for that i can use or will have to create one that will help me in the future to ensure i have the correct tax liabilities regarding US, ETF's US shares and US dividends.
Thank you.
