Took a punt on BOI in 2009 now have a loss of €8k plus, Davy charging €50 a qtr going to dump remaining €1300.

Is this loss only offset against similar class of assets ie shares?

And is there a time limit on the carryover?
Its been a long time since I did CGT and Revenue website isn't easy to understand any books I have are outdated thus me asking here.

Thanks in Advance

A past capital loss can be carried forward against future capital gains.

They type of asset is not relevant.

Thank you for your reply, finally are the "maintenance" costs to be considered when calculating total loss? And obviously commission?
From memory all costs associated with the purchase and disposal of assets are costs associated with that asset......or something like that
