CGT indexation relief

When indexation relief was removed, was it done retrospectively?

If I bought a property in 1985 and sell it now, has the indexation relief been removed altogether or is it just not availalbe from a certain date.

Let's say indexation relief was removed in 2002. I'm in one of 3 scenarios, which is correct please:

1. Indexation relief has been removed entirely and I get no relief whatever.

2. Indexation relief was introduced in 2002 and so any property sold after that gets no relief. However I bought mine in 1985 so I will get full indexation relief.

3. Indexation relief was removed in 2002. I bought my property in 1985 so I receive indexation relief from 1985 - 2002 but not not beyond that because it has been removed.

Also, when exactly was it removed. 2002 is a guess.

Thanks.

You are correct that you get it from when you purcahsed until 2002. If you purchased between 1 Jan - 5 April '85 the rate is 1.735 or if between 6 Apr -31 Dec it is 1.633

Don't forget to include all cost at purchase, legal, stamp duy etc and index all at the same rate as above

Don't forget to deduct the 1270 Euro individual capital gain before applying the 20% tax
I think this was introduced when the indexation relief was removed.
