Cessation of Single parent tax credits

My son has now completed college so he no longer falls into the dependent category.

If I change my status on ROS when do my new credits kick in ? Will they backdate to the start of the year? I presume I have to notify immediately & also I don't want to get a backdated tax bill for continuing to claim credits I'm not entitled to.

Contact Revenue or use the PAYE section on ROS to amend your certificate of tax credits.

When did your right to a single parent tax credit cease? Was it in 2008? If say it was May this year then you are entitled to have the credit this year but going forward (2009) you will have the relief removed of your tax credits cert.

If he ceased as a dependent even if it was on 2/1/08 you are entitled to claim single parent credit for 2008 call revenue and have same removed for 2009.
